Biography

Steven E. Nurenberg brings more than 25 years of experience, integrity, and a breadth of legal knowledge to every case he handles. His analytical skills afford him the ability to recognize an approach or perspective that may not have been considered, and to view an issue from all sides. Steve has the innate capacity to interpret a client’s difficulty, and whether presenting the matter in a judicial setting or clarifying the circumstances in writing, he is able to communicate his client’s position in a concise and accurate manner. Steve builds relationships with his clients who come to trust and rely upon his incisive legal advice. He values these relationships by keeping his clients informed and allowing them to make decisions concerning what is of upmost importance to them, as the matter proceeds through legal channels or negotiations. Steve is a monthly contributor to "The PACA Law Perspective," a weekly article published in the Meuers Law Firm newsletter, "Produce and the Law," providing important information and items of interest to members of the produce industry. Steve has achieved a legal ability rating of “A” (very high to preeminent) and a general ethical standards rating of “V,” the highest possible ratings by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.

Steve counsels and assists clients with litigation matters, including trust enforcement cases under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (“PACA”) and disputes between produce companies in federal courts, and formal and informal reparation cases before the PACA Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Prior to joining Meuers Law Firm in 2006, Steve was a partner in a 90-attorney Detroit, Michigan firm, where he represented corporations and individuals in a variety of insurance-related litigation matters, including workers’ compensation, automobile liability, automobile no-fault, and property damage defense.

The lure of a warmer climate attracted Steve, his wife, Jan, and son, Jared, to Southwest Florida in July, 2006. As northern transplants, they enjoy the amenities Florida has to offer, including golf, fishing and spending time at the beach. Steve and his family are active members of their church and serve in different capacities on several of its committees.
