Katy Koestner Esquivel joined Meuers Law Firm as an attorney in 2002. In 1995, Katy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Florida, where she majored in English with a minor in secondary education. After receiving a merit scholarship to attend St. Thomas University School of Law, Katy relocated to Miami to pursue her legal education. While attending law school, Katy worked as a law clerk for firms located in Naples and Miami specializing in various aspects of commercial litigation. In May, 1998, she earned her Juris Doctor degree, and later that year was admitted to practice law in Florida. She became licensed to practice law in Illinois in February, 2000, and is admitted to practice law in Florida's federal courts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

From 1998 through 2002, Katy's areas of practice included various aspects of commercial litigation, as well as appeals and torts. During that time, she also gained experience in bankruptcy law, along with employment contracts, non-competition and confidentiality agreements. In 2000, Katy successfully argued before Florida's Fourth District Court of Appeal in the case styled Zurstrassen v. Stonier, reported at 786 So.2d 65 (Fla. 4th DCA 2001). She also assisted at the trial court and appellate levels in Platz v. Auto Recycling and Repair, Inc., 795 So.2d 1025 (Fla. 2nd DCA 2001).

Katy handles collection cases under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act ("PACA") in federal district and bankruptcy courts, as well as formal and informal reparation cases before the PACA Branch of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Originally from East Lansing, Michigan, Katy grew up in Tampa, and is a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names, a college preparatory school for young women. She currently resides in Naples, Florida, where she is a member of the Thomas S. Biggs American Inn of Court and the Collier County Bar Association. For the past two years, Katy has enjoyed coaching the Gulf Coast High School Mock Trial Team, and spends much of her free time reading, cycling, and spending time with friends and family.
